Bring Aveda Elixer Back Campaign

Got the comment below from Stacy - another
Elixir fan:

If you call this number 1-800-284-8616, it
is Aveda's head office and if they get enough
calls asking for Elixir they will bring it
back. I was told this by the staff at the
Aveda Academy salon (who said the Area manager
told them to tell all their customers) and
also by the 800 # for Aveda products. Call NOW,
we can get it back. In the mean time, I am
using a product called Walking Weightless by
Giovanni - not perfect but ok.

Birthdays Again ? ! ?

It’s almost birthday time again. Two of my
three children were born in June, the other
in December. They are all past the age where
it is easy to get them gifts - once a kid
reaches the age of ten it gets tough. This
year feels even more difficult because my
daughter is turning 16 and there is societal
pressure to do something special for a 16th
birthday.

I wrote about their birthday searches last year
-Ty’s here and his cupcakes here
and Del’s birthday here

The search begins today. Input welcome.

Red Merle Fox?

Can foxes have merle coloring? I saw a
young fox yesterday morning when I was
driving through McCall Idaho on my way
back from Boise. Wish I'd had my camera.

It looked a little like this:

But was fluffier and had splotchy coloring like this:

It crossed the street in front of me and then
walked down the street a little so I got a good
look at him. Very cute.

Aveda and No-Poo

I still get comments on the Aveda Elixir
problem - that being that Aveda doesn’t
make it anymore. So here’s an update
from an anonymous commenter:

“My hairdresser told me the reason that
Aveda discontinued the Elixir is that when
they were bought out by Estee Lauder, EL
decided that the Elixir was too expensive
to manufacture. So rather than just sell
it at premium, they discontinued it. So
if they are reformulating it for 2008, it
probably means it will contain different
& cheaper ingredients. Let's hope it is
still a good product, but it may not in the
end be the Elixir we have all known & loved
for 20 years. “

I have moved on from Elixir. I just started
using baking soda and apple cider vinegar -
JUST as in today was my first time. There is
a whole No Shampoo movement out there for
people with wavy or curly hair. You can read
about it here and lots of other places too like
here where there is a cool before/after shot.
